The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season introduces a diverse group of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
